There's lots a fish spa treatment center popping up in Malaysia. But no one actually seems to know or have any knowledge on how hygienic is it. Well good thing the I a.k.a thee grinch is here to let you know as part of my giving back to the community program.
Letting live fish give people pedicures could transmit infections.Yes they can clean the tank, yes they can clean the water, but there's no guarantee that the fish aren't carrying something from the previous customer. Just imagine how HIV is being transmitted and convert that transmitting ways to you and the fish spa and you'll get the pretty picture.. Even there's no reported case yet but still let's err on the side of safety.
Fish Spa treatment center mainly uses garra rufa and the ..Here are some facts above the lovely fish that nibble your feet in the fish tank:
- Originated from the Middle East in rivers & springs. (mmm..very dirty places)
- Researched species of fish in Turkey as they are Protected Species..( not even endagered animal is gonna stop Chinese for making a buck out of it.)
- Nibbles on dead skin by sucking on your skin, similar to exfoliation, the natural way.
- Lifespan of 6 years.
- Can grow up to 7cm in length.
- Continues nibbling even when they are full.

c'mon let's be honest here...since those fish are very expensive, why not save on a few bucks and use the cheaper ones instead. yes..get the fish that made from China or Taiwan since their are the world market leader for crap, unhygienic product. Case where the milk scandal,2008 Chinese heparin contamination,list of 2007 Chinese export recalls such as comes to life:
Pet food - that animals had died after eating its products due to contamination indicated by the presence of melamine, an industrial chemical found in plastics and resins.
Toys - because of the high level of lead in the paint its Chinese contractor had used.
Toothpaste - contain diethylene glycol, a constituent of antifreeze.

Chin Chin fish.The Chin Chin fish comes mostly from China and Taiwan. It has the ability to swarm as a school to bite on any foreign objects placed into the water. Not the original fish for this type of treatment and highly not recommended!!
The Chin Chin has a very high mortality rate and can grow up to a length of 22cm! However it does not assist in any form of temporary treatment for skin problems compared to the Garra Rufa.

- Classified as a pest fish in some parts of the world.
- High death rate and short lifespan
- Can grow up to 22cm in length
- Stops biting when they are full
- Does not assist in any temporary treatment of skin conditions.
